01About the project
A low-rise resort on the coast at Gweia, planned as a village rather than a block. The accommodation is broken into terraced volumes that step with the ground from the inland edge down to the beach, so that the view to the water carries over the roofs below.
The method is Mediterranean before it is contemporary: thick white masonry, rounded corners, deep arcades, and openings kept small against the glare. The outdoor spaces — courts, pools, play areas, and promenades — are treated as the primary elements, with the buildings threaded between them, and the plan is made to be walked rather than driven. The hierarchy of public and private is kept legible, and shade is everywhere between.
